Alejandro got his PhD at Brandeis University under the mentorship of Gina Turrigiano, studying the role of sleep in the homeostatic regulation of neuronal firing. He is currently interested in the role of serotonin signaling in behavior and psychiatric disease, and in the effects of psychedelics on brain function. Outside of the lab he can usually be found rock climbing or mountain biking.
